Build A Website!

Every affiliate needs one!

To start, maybe we should ask the question, "Why Build a Website" Does an affiliate need a website? Can she get along without one? I think the answer is No, she can't get along without one. There is no other vehicle that can get you the exposure that a website can and that's what an internet marketer needs, EXPOSURE.

The purpose of your website is to put your product in front of as many potential buyers as possible, hopefully those potential buyers have come to your site with the intention of buying, but I'm getting ahead of myself as this topic will be covered on another page. We definitely need a website, so now you can justify the expense of constructing one.

WHAT KIND OF A SITE....?

You know, the kind that you just put your affiliate link out there and sit back and let the money roll it! Nope, that won't work. We have to determine what my niche is, what is it that my customer wants or is looking for, do I have one great product to sell, do I have many products to sell, or maybe I have information that people need; what is it that I'm going to headline my website with?

Once you determine that, then you
can proceed to construct a site that will accomplish your goal.

HOW TO BUILD A FREE WEB SITE

There are many ways to build a web site or have a web site built. If you want to build a site from scratch, then you should be well versed in HTML (Hyper Text Mark-up Language) but I'm going to assume, if your like me, you know a little but not enough, so I would definitely suggest that you learn as much as you can about HTML.

Here are a couple of my favorite sites that have great articles, tutorials, tools and help - HTML Goodies and W3schools, both are free.

FREE TEMPLATES

Now that your going to school and learning some HTML, you still have other alternatives to building a website.

You can use a pre-made website template that is already designed and you just add the content and text links. Most of them are free, such as Buildfree, About Templates and Protagonist Web Resources.

The problem with templates is they are not very flexible. Your sort of stuck with what is given to you. You get about half way through your web page and want to do something but the template has you locked in. Then you try to change the template via some HTML and it gets very frustrating. So unless you want to make a very simple site, I'd try without a template.

If you don't want to go the template route, but still haven't learned enough HTML, you could have someone build your site for you. One of the most popular free websites is PlugInProfitSite by Stone Evans. Here again, what you see is what you get. This site will be someone else's design and content, your stuck with it unless you can change it around ...but if you can change it, you would have built it in the first place!

There is still another avenue of opportunity and that would be with SiteBuildit, without a doubt the premier affiliate program on the net, where you contribute your own content and design without any HTML experience whatsoever.
